On the morning of Dec.2, students of the first year of master degree in the School of Environment of Energy led by Jiao Genlin (Visiting Associate Professor of our school) travelled to Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden to attend a practice lesson on energy crops.
Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, established in 1983, is situated in the eastern suburbs of Shenzhen City and covers an area of 588 hectares. The mission of the garden is to provide the public with an experience of beautiful plants and landscape, develop and spread botanic knowledge and protect plant diversity from extinction. The Fairy Lake Botanical Garden is developing into a multi-functional center for conservation and plant resource research in South China.
Lead by Prof. Jiao, students visited Gymnosperm Section, Angiosperm section, Eremophyte Section and Shenzhen Paleontological Museum.
The visit, described by some students as "a living textbook" provided them with vivid and profound understanding of what they had learned in the classroom. The experience also enhanced mutual understanding between students and staff in a relaxing atmosphere.
